DDW 23 Picture this: we are on a mission to design a better world
As of this year, Dutch Design Week (DDW) introduces ten programme narratives that help make the best possible matches between the participating designers and visitors. To easily guide you, as a DDW visitor, in the right direction. To the projects that spark your interest. DDW has established missions and design perspectives as a framework for the programme and activities during the week.
The theme of DDW23: Picture This seems an innocent call at first glance, but just imagine that we continue living as we do now… what kind of world would we then see in 20, 50, 100 years? Picture This is an urgent call to face that future scenario and to turn the tide.
An indispensable aspect of this is the commitment of designers, with their new schools of thought and exceptional powers of visualisation. Since years DDW appointed two or three ambassadors each year. This year we are exploring a different format. DDW invited three designers to serve as beacons: Stefan Diez, Yinka Ilori and Sanne and Neele Kistemaker. Leading designers, pioneers in their field. These trailblazers serve as kinds of landmarks in the turbulent world of design and are seen as guiding lights for fellow designers, partners, and DDW visitors.
